Opening PART – Palazzi dell’Arte di Rimini

PART – Palazzi dell’Arte di Rimini

PART inaugurates in Rimini a new museum site that brings together the redevelopment for cultural purposes of two historic buildings in the heart of the city where the eclectic collection of contemporary art works donated by artists, collectors and gallerists to the Fondazione San will be permanently placed Patrignano.

PARTPalazzi dell’Arte di Rimini will soon open its doors to the public on with a big party open to the whole city.

The new museum site is located within the medieval monumental complex consisting of the thirteenth-century Palazzo dell’Arengo and the fourteenth-century Palazzo del Podestà, the two imposing contiguous buildings of great historical and architectural importance which together with Palazzo Garampi, the Galli Theater and the Pescheria they overlook Piazza Cavour, the heart of the city.

Within this evocative context, affected by a first redevelopment, the San Patrignano Foundation collection will find home. The collection, started in 2017 consists of the donation of works, the number of which is still growing, donated by established contemporary artists of Italian and international scene.

The restoration and functional adaptation of the buildings were carried out by the AR.CH.IT Studio led by Luca Cipelletti, who also signed the staging and setting up of the San Patrignano Collection. The museographic project follows the eclecticism and the uneven nature of the collection as a strength and offers, thanks to innovative set-up methods, an extremely free use of the content, not marked by a path of historical-critical relationships between the works. Within PART the works are the protagonists: of the relationship with the medieval spaces of the Palazzo dell’Arengo and the Podestà, and of the relationship with the visitor. For the part of lighting technology, aimed at enhancing the collection, together with the architecture of the space, we turned to the architect and lighting designer Alberto Pasetti Bombardella.

This work of artistic-cultural redevelopment of the city has been made possible through an intense synergic work between public and private: the agreement between the Municipality of Rimini and the San Patrignano Foundation have allowed the city to be equipped with an innovative museum designed to be at one time an opportunity to approach contemporary art for the general public and an instrument to value the donations received from the community.
