Nicolas Party in the Garden Room

Palazzo Antinori, Firenze
Marchesi Antinori first opened the doors of Palazzo Antinori in Florence to contemporary art with a special project by the Swiss artist Nicolas Party (Lausanne, 1980) on the occasion of the acquisition of the work of the artist Giant Fruit, work site-specific created in 2015 for the group Still-life Remix, which was held in the highly suggestive context of the Antinori winery in Bargino in the Chianti Classico.

Nicolas Party in the Garden Room therefore celebrates the new entrance in the artist’s collection and presents a series of works produced between 2013 and 2016: 6 pit works toriche – 3 new watercolors and 3 stone-sculptures – which ironically reappropriate a classic iconography and illustrate how the Still Life genre is more alive than ever today. Nicolas Party’s will to mix up the limits between art and decoration make his interventions in the spaces even more incisive, for this reason he chooses to present his works in the ‘wood’, the room of Palazzo Antinori completely frescoed at the end of the 18th century with views taken from a bucolic and wooded landscape.
