Africa. Raccontare un mondo | PAC Milano

PAC Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Milano

Curated by Adelina von Fürstenberg

Video and performance by Ginevra Bria

Until Monday 11 September.

With the exhibition AFRICA. To Tell a world, the PAC of Milan continues its exploration of the continents on the route of art, proposing a selection of artists and narratives that not only live and sink their African roots in the world, but also inhabit its diaspora. Through photographs, paintings, installations, drawings, sculptures, but also videos and performances, coming from international public and private collections, 33 artists of different generations, who embody and represent today the multiplicity of their reference social contexts, will subject the visitor to visual research and narratives to understand the universality of the art scene of contemporary Africa south of the Sahara, revealing its immediate and growing spirit without hiding the violence and the immediate immediacy of the worlds that compose it: from the protagonist artists of the After Independence, welded to their own cultural universe, passing through the Identity Introspection that instead distinguishes the artists engagé, to get to the “crossroads” of a Generation Africa involved and immersed in contemporary life, up to the artists who investigate reality through the Body and Distance Policies .
