From September 26th to October 7th 2018, MAXXI hosts the second stage of the traveling exhibition “The San Patrignano collection. WORK IN PROGRESS ”, a collection of works by contemporary artists donated to the recovery community in the 40th year since its foundation by collectors, galleries and the artists themselves.

The collection, which after the exhibition last March at the Milan Triennale now reaches the MAXXI Museum in Rome where it will be exhibited in the Extra MAXXI Space, was created by the will of the San Patrignano Foundation which in celebrating the history of the center founded by Vincenzo Muccioli in 1978 , intends to guarantee its future by implementing an innovative sustainability tool The exhibition will present a wide selection of the entire collection, with works by Vanessa Beecroft, Alessandro Busci, Giorgio Griffa, Agnes Martin, Davide Monaldi, Yan Pei Ming, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Julian Schnabel, Sandro Chia, Enzo Cucchi and others, with some works not previously exhibited at the Triennale, including a new work loaned by the artist Silvio Wolf.

The collection will definitely arrive at the nascent museum of Rimini in 2019, where the intent will be to highlight the contents of the works through special dedicated activities. The new museum will be built in the heart of the city in two monumental buildings of great historical and artistic importance. The restoration and functional readjustment were entrusted to Luca Cipelletti’s AR.CH.IT Studio.

The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge. To accompany it, a catalog that collects texts by Letizia Moratti, Andrea Gnassi, Giovanna Melandri and a brief introduction by the art critic, painter and philosopher Gillo Dorfles.
