Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli | Michelangelo. Disegni da Casa Buonarroti

Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli, Torino

from April 4th to July 21st 2019
curated by Alessandro Cecchi

The Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli presents, from Thursday 4 April to Sunday 21 July, the exhibition “Michelangelo. Disegni da Casa Buonarroti”, curated by Alessandro Cecchi.
On display are original drawings with studies for the frescoes on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, anatomical studies and architectural studies, all from Casa Buonarroti, the Florentine foundation that does not only hold the family archive, but also the world’s largest collection of Michelangelo’s graphic works. So, this will be an occasion to admire fine anatomical and architectural studies which are not usually on display to the public.

For the celebrations of the 500 years since Leonardo’s death, which will also involve Piedmont and the city of Turin with the programme “Leonardo in Turin”, the Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli adds to the cultural offer by giving the chance to rediscover this extraordinary Renaissance period with a valuable and representative exhibit of Michelangelo’s oeuvre and the processes of formal elaboration underlying the creations of the Florentine master.

The exhibition set up is curated by Marco Palmieri, the catalogue is edited by Corraini.
