From Thursday 9 May to Sunday 24 November 2019
From 9 May to 24 November 2019, the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo. Study Center for the History of Textile, Costume and Perfume in Venice hosts the personal exhibition of Brigitte Niedermair, a South Tyrolean artist who has been photographing the female universe for over twenty years. Titled Me and Fashion 1996 – 2018, the exhibition brings together more than thirty images and still life dedicated to the world of fashion and taken from an archive of over two decades of photographic activity.
The exhibition, curated by Charlotte Cotton with the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli and housed on the first floor of the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo, is a dynamic interaction between the artist’s photographs and the architecture and furnishings of the 17th and 18th centuries of the building. The meeting takes place in the once private rooms of the Mocenigo family, marked by an alternation between intimate and imposing spaces with which Brigitte Niedermair converses, responding to the specific atmosphere of each room and inserting her tableaux of fashion and still life photos , with a powerful installation intention.
