BASELITZ, FIRST LIVING ARTIST TO WHICH A GREAT EXHIBITION WILL BE DEDICATED AT THE GALLERIES OF THE ACADEMY
On 7 May 2019, in conjunction with the Venice Art Biennale, the Accademia Galleries will inaugurate Baselitz – Academy, an important retrospective of the renowned German artist Georg Baselitz, the first dedicated to a living artist.
The exhibition, curated by Prof. Kosme de Barañano, will aim to retrace all the crucial periods and junctions of the artist’s sixty years of extraordinary career through paintings, drawings, graphics and sculptures. A peculiar feature of the exhibition will be a series of rarely exhibited works that explore Baselitz’s relationship with Italy and academic tradition.
The exhibition, supported by Gagosian, will be accompanied by an illustrated catalog.
