MAN di Nuoro | GUIDO GUIDI | IN SARDEGNA: 1974, 2011
curated by Irina Zucca Alessandrelli
From Friday 21 June to Sunday 20 October 2019
EXTENDED until Sunday 27 October 2019
Until Sunday 27 October 2019, the MAN Museum of Art Province of Nuoro hosts the first major exhibition in an Italian museum dedicated to Guido Guidi (Cesena, 1941), one of the most significant protagonists of Italian post-war photography. Guido Guidi – IN SARDINIA: 1974, 2011 is an exhibition curated by Irina Zucca Alessandrelli and co-produced by MAN in collaboration with ISRE, the Sardinian Regional Ethnographic Institute. The exhibition presents 250 unpublished photographs that testify to Guido Guidi’s relationship with the Sardinian territory, taken up for the first time in 1974 and later in 2011, the year of an important commission from ISRE.
The exhibition is at the same time an anthropological and landscape narrative of the changes that have occurred on the island over the course of four decades and a path of research on the medium of photography that brings together black and white images from the seventies and color works of the years Two thousand.
The exhibited works, reprinted by the artist on the occasion of the exhibition, are documented in a three-volume catalog in a box published by MACK Books, London’s publisher of contemporary author photography.
