Jan Fabre | The Man who Measures the Clouds

Giardino di Palazzo Balbi Valier, Venezia

From Monday 6 May to Sunday 24 November 2019

On the occasion of the 58th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, the great artist and author Jan Fabre returns to the Lagoon with the presentation of a special public art project. Installed inside the Garden of Palazzo Balbi Valier and visible from the Grand Canal, the monumenal gold leaf sculpture “The Man who Measures the Clouds (Monument to the Measure of the Immeasurable)”, stands out at nine meters high .

The project was born from the collaboration of Angelos (Antwerp, BE), EdM Productions and Foundation Linda and Guy Pieters (Saint-Tropez, FR) and is curated by Joanna De Vos. It will be unveiled to the public on Monday 6 May at 17 and will remain until the end of the 2019 Art Biennale, Sunday 24 November.

This is the tenth active participation of Jan Fabre in the great Venetian kermesse, where he made his 26 year-old debut in 1984 at the Giardini, as a representative of Belgium. Over time, Fabre has been a protagonist both as an artist in the official selection and in relation to collateral events.
