Galleria Campari and Artissima present a new and original exhibition project, designed especially for the spaces of Galleria Campari in Milan: Pedigree, a solo show by the Mexican artist Rodrigo Hernández (Mexico City, 1983), winner of the second edition of the Campari Art Prize at the 25th edition of Artissima, the international contemporary art fair of Turin. The exhibition, curated by Ilaria Bonacossa, will be open to the public from Thursday 10 October 2019 to Friday 14 February 2020.

The display comprises an exquisite collection of eight sculptures that dialogue with a special wallpaper produced by the artist as a homage to the history of the Campari family. Fascinated by its past and the original testimonies of art and design to be found in the company museum, Rodrigo Hernández decided to come up with a narrative that blends reality and imagination, in which the life story of the founder Gaspare Campari, the origins and evolution of the company as well as literary evocations, symbolism and a personal interpretation of the Campari story all converge. Abstract as well as figurative elements – such as dogs, buildings, people and cars – intertwine with a range of visions, both old and new, meaningful and insignificant, but all filtered through the artist’s own sensitivity.
